Mastercall Building Shot
Out of Hours Service

Mastercall Healthcare provides Out of Hours care to patients registered with practices in the Stockport and Trafford areas.

The service is available between the hours of 1830-0800 hours Monday to Friday and 24/7 Saturday/Sunday and Bank Holidays.

To access the service you should either:

  • Phone your own GP and you will then be directed to the NHS111 advice line service.
  • Phone 111 directly. You can NHS111 if you are not sure which NHS service you need. Calls to the NHS111 service are free of charge from landlines and mobiles (pay as you go phone must have at least 1p of credit although no charge will be made).

If you have an emergency, life threatening illness then you should phone 999.

NHS111 will ask you a series of questions using their Pathways algorithm. Once the questions have been answered they will then sign post you to the most appropriate service to meet your medical needs.

If you are referred to the Out of Hours Service, we will receive your information electronically in a secure electronic referral. Once received into our system, we will then call you back and either give you advice over the phone on how to manage your condition or, we may ask you to attend one of our treatment centres or we will arrange a home visit depending on your medical needs.

We always prioritise home visits for the housebound and for those who are terminally ill - but all other visits are decided depending on clinical need. This means that we ensure patients receive the level and type of care that they medically require at the time.

We provide a courtesy patient transport service for patients experiencing problems with transport. If you require assistance in travelling to the out of hours service please advise the GP/nurse during the initial telephone assessment and they will help arrange transport for you.

Our service, whether over the phone, via visits or attendance at treatment centres is staffed by highly trained GPs and nurses who have continuous training in all aspects of acute primary care. We run an ongoing programme of educational activities with all our staff not just to satisfy mandatory requirements but also based on lessons learnt from incidents, patient experience feedback and complaints - and also from suggestions for improvements made by our own staff.

All clinical staff have a proportion of their consultations assessed by a team of senior doctors and nurses with feedback given on all aspects of care, both positive and negative.

Mastercall are Care Quality Commission (CQC) registered for all services and locations.

Exclusions to our service:

We cannot issue sick notes and any requests for repeat medication will be assessed according to clinical need. Only the smallest amount will be given, if decided necessary, to tide you over until you can get a full repeat prescription from your own doctor.

Post consultation communication with your GP

All information regarding your Mastercall consultation is securely transferred to your GP practice unless you expressly tell us not to do this.

You can call NHS111 if you are not sure which NHS Service you need. Calls to the NHS111 service are free of charge from landlines and mobiles (pay as you go phones must have at least 1p of credit, although no charge will be made).
