About Us

Mastercall Healthcare is a Social Enterprise organisation established in 1996 (formerly known as the Stockport Doctors’ Co-operative). Our Social Enterprise status has been accredited by the Social Enterprise Mark.

We are an awarding-winning, innovative and patient-focused provider of 'out of hospital' healthcare and provide a range of services (as described below) across the North West, covering a patient population of around 3 million.

Our constitution is a Private Company Limited by Guarantee.

We only provide services to the National Health Service (NHS) and we therefore have NHS Employing Authority status for the purposes of the NHS superannuation scheme.

The Social Enterprise Mark is the only internationally available social enterprise accreditation scheme, enabling credible social enterprise organisations to prove that they are making a difference. It also guarantees that Mastercall operates with the central aim of using income and profits to maximise positive social and environmental impact, taking precedence over a requirement to maximise profits for owners and shareholders.

Stakeholder Network:

Mastercall is proud of its reputation as a ‘key stakeholder’ in the local health and social care economy. We are credited with being a high quality, high performing and highly responsive service. We are members of the GP Federation and have strong relationships with other key stakeholders.

What we do:

Mastercall provides a range of innovative, high quality, safe and effective urgent scheduled and unscheduled health care services to meet the national 'out of hospital' programme.

The services that we provide offer an alternative to a hospital admission by providing care in the community, and support earlier discharge from hospital, where clinically safe and appropriate, than otherwise would have been possible.

Out of Hospital Services that we provide:

  • Out of Hours Service in Stockport and Trafford
  • Trafford Health Centre
  • Walk-in Centre
  • Registered Practice
  • Dental Helpline
  • Trafford Care Co-ordination Service
  • Community IV Therapy Service
  • Alternative to Transfer Service
  • GP at the Wellspring and ANP for Hostels
  • Managed IT Services

Quality assurance

Mastercall is committed to providing the highest possible standard of care to our patients. In order to achieve that we recognised that our greatest asset is our staff. As part of our social enterprise status we invest a lot of resource in the continual training and development of our staff to ensure that they retain the highest level of skill and expertise in their respective fields.

We invest significantly in both internal and external audit in our effort to continuously improve what we do and how we do it.

Mastercall are members of Urgent Health UK (UHUK) a federation of Social Enterprise organisations. UHUK validates the quality and performance of its members through rigorous external audit, carried out by NHS Audit South West, and benchmarking. Dignity in care

Mastercall is proud to be the only 'out of hours' provider that has been awarded the Daisy Accreditation for Dignity in Care. The Dignity In Care campaign's core values are about having dignity in our hearts, minds and actions, changing the culture of care services and placing a greater emphasis on improving quality of care and the experience of patients using our services.

There are ten core Dignity In Care challenges:

  1. Have a zero tolerance of all forms of abuse
  2. Support people with the same respect you would want for yourself or a member of your family
  3. Treat each person as an individual by offering a personalised service
  4. Enable people to maintain the maximum possible level of independence, choice and control
  5. Listen and support people to express their needs and wants
  6. Respect people's right to privacy
  7. Ensure people feel able to complain without fear of retribution
  8. Engage with family members and carers as care partners
  9. Assist people to maintain confidence and positive self-esteem
  10. Act to alleviate people's loneliness and isolation
